Kenya - Yes, visa on arrival for indian passport holders ($50...
remember to carry change...)
(sometimes its good to have an official looking
invitation letter of some sort... otherwise if you ask for a tourist
visa there is no problem...)
-Yes, for border crossings too, though it depends on
where you are crossing the border and the condition of the officials
manning the border
(i crossed from tanzania once, at Tanga - the border crossing along
the indian ocean coast...the kenyan immigration official examined my
passport for a full five minutes holding it upside down, and then
handed it back saying it was fine...)

Uganda - Yes, visa on arrival for indian passport holders ($30...
never had any problems...)
             - Visas are also issued at border crossings, though you
must have exact change...

Tanzania - No, you have to get a visa in advance....
              - though if you fly to zanzibar straight, you can get a
visa on arrival (issued by Zanzibar, valid for Tanzania....)

I'm still trying to figure out visa requirements for Africa before I book
my tickets there though (why does no one *pick up the phone* at the
Ugandan High Commission?).

I'm considering taking a 4 week tour through Kenya/Uganda/Tanzania in March.

By any chance does anyone here know if Indian passport holders can get
visas-on-arrival at the above three countries? (Especially when arriving
by land as I will be for Uganda/Tanzania?).

I'm under the impression that this is possible (although I will probably
get the Tanzania visa before I leave since it only takes 24 hours)..but it
is proving very hard to confirm it..
