Right, this is what I've done, but for an editorial staff that is
already over-taxed, and we end up sending around 1000 review requests
in a year (because 90% decline the request), this would end up taking
lots of time. I spend roughly 20 hours a week dealing with email for
the journal, which doesn't leave much time to do all the other stuff I
need to as well...

It's more of a general problem too, since what happens when we don't
get a bounce?

The system admins I've pursued the matter with of course have no sympathy.

Easier perhaps if you contact the person you emailed, out of band (say
over the phone), quote him that incident id and have him get his email
admin to check
