That thing is too damn useful not to happen. In fact in a decade some people would be able to make that stuff at home, with a rapid protyping device like an inkjet printer. I'm actually interested when the phased array approach will be prototyped, because it could really mean wireless power in line of sight, which can be very far away (look at the sky).
