That brings to the fore the fight of "Dalit Christians" and "Dalit Muslims" to be recognised as backward castes. Methinks Hinduism is more a way of life / culture issue similar to what you pointed out for Jews. You can never be completely free of linkage if you live in the same society. -- Vinayak
