Here is an article from the Financial Times, which attempts to list the
equal-equal between India and Pakistan. The author's name is not mentioned
but I am wiling to bet Rs 1000 to none that the author has Pakistani
origins. Any listmember who disproves that gets Rs 1000 from me.

What I find interesting is a comment that has been echoing through the decades
- right from the time of partition about how the Brahmins have a vise like
grip on India.

>Both countries suffer from the complacency of urban elites and intolerable
>social inequity: the survival of feudal power in Pakistan and the
>Brahmin-dominated caste system in India.

I am sure Tambrams and other displaced and disempowerd Brahmins should have a
say in this ridiculous cliche that perpetuates a myth into an era when
Brahmins - such as those in Tamil Nadu and Kashmir are being trampled upon
for their supposed excesses.

Ramchandra Guha speaks of how the Nizam of Hyderabad spoke of a
"Brahmin-Bania" nexus seeking to suppress Islam. I think it is about time
this sort of group-profiling and character assassination is set to rest.

Brahmin bashing is needless and excessive and needs to come to a halt.
