If you drive over the Richmond Circle flyover in Bangalore, you find that buildings adjacent to the bridge have nets to stop objects thrown from cars from breaking windows.
The story I heard is that they were put up to prevent window breakage caused by stones thrown by random public-sririted pedestrians who wanted to register their objection to actors being kidnapped, dying, etc.
