LOL.

When my brother was in 10 std, he was tasked with verifying the names
that would be soon be appearing on 10 std certificates. A lot of
students used that as a chance to change their names.

While there were a few cases of people changing their names in a way
we would consider reasonable: Yellow, for example, changed his name to
Ian. On the other hand, Sunday changed his name to Friday, Record
Player changed his name to Football and, my favorite, Spider renamed
himself Bicycle.

Note that even in Zambia and Zimbabwe such names were uncommon enough
to raise a laugh amongst Zambians.

Oddly enough, while these kinds of names were common in Zambia they
were fairly unusual in Botswana. People stuck to traditional names
like Dumang ("Bright Star"), Mooketsi ("counselor") or Biju (Doesn't
mean a damn thing) [1].
