Because you can't get the damn thing clean, ever, and some of
the stuff that has been in there can be nasty. 

One of the basic rules of Lebensmittelchemie is to use apparatus
made from approved materials, and not used for nonalimentary
purposes, since cleaning can be difficult or impossible. 

Imagine a milk transporter, that also transports crude or insecticide
the odd days.
