I am currently trying, and failing, to finish reading a book I started -
Five Families by Selwyn Raab. It's about the American, and in particular New
York, Mafia and how they grew to be what they are/were. I am at chapter 5,
and this is my 5th attempt.

Why I mention that is, the 2nd chapter deals with how a gun-for-hire becomes
a part of the family, and the kind of things he had to do. Apparently, there
was a swearing-in ceremony. The new recruit had to swear not to cause harm
to the family, not to sleep with the wives of the family's bosses, and such
like.

Basically, this whole 10 commandment thing is old news.
