My main affliction is a plague of wall warts. On the other hand
I'm busily restructuring my electronics landscape, and expect
to cut my power bill down to one third. Once the cable thicket
is more structured, I can separate nonessential devices
from mains for the night by means of switchable sockets.

I used to have a 250 W box run 24/7/365, and a similiar box
run through through the day, and some some 600 W worth of
halogens (total halogens about twice that). Now I've substituted
5 W LED spots for 50 W halogens, and 70 W HQI for 600 W of
halogens, and a 30-40 W Mac mini for about a 500 W assembly
(okay, I'm cheating as one machine will go out to the colo
facility, but at least then it will do something useful,
and actually pay for itself).

I could already run my current computer rig off a PV array,
but I think I'll wait until prices fall 2-4 fold, at which
point they will become slightly cheaper than current electricity
rates.
