"In another small milestone, we went to Chitra Santhe, the Karnataka
Chitrakala Parishat's annual art show/sale on Kumara Krupa Road. The
entire road is closed to traffic and lined on both sides with artists
showing and selling their art. (Most of the art was, as another
attendee put it, "not breaking any boundaries" but we picked up a
Madhubani Nagini that I'm quite happy with.)"

There was a lot of art and a lot of artists, but it was all pretty
much of a type. Lots of conventional or slightly abstract depictions
of traditional subjects (I think I've filled my quota of "abstract
Ganeshas" for the year.) A bit of traditional Tangore, Madhubani, and
tribal art which I like. Very little sculpture, very little modern
painting, a few tasteful nudes. We saw one person who was doing
interesting things in oils, and the one guy I know in Bangalore who's
doing interesting work in ceramics was there.

Mostly it was art that any conventional proper middle class family
would be happy to have in their house, and most of it was
characterless and interchangeable. Nothing that made me stop and say
"omg," "wtf" or even "o rly"
