And in neighbouring UAE, Emirati men and women come to malls with rolled up pieces of paper with their numbers on them, which they throw to people who interest them. Now this is one bit of urban legend which I have kept hearing for the past decade (or more) and never been able to confirm (much like the couple-swapping by dropping of car keys which is supposed to go on at weekends at the Bangalore Club.) I first heard this as "dropping the numbers written on tissues, from car windows" then it progressed to swimming pools and restaurants and now, of course, it's malls. Alas, I have picked up so many pieces of paper but never have they had phone number written on them....I once picked up a very, very life-like twenty-dollar bill on the New York subway which had a fairly witty promotional message by a professional (oldest one) lady. But no amateur communications in the Arab world.... Does anyone have first-hand information about this? Deepa. Deepa.
