It's interesting how strongly the medium resonates with some people here. I've only been exposed after the age of 14, and I found them beyond cheesy, and unrealistic (physics completely wrong, situations completely constructed and arbitrarily improbable, stereotypes modelled towards the male teenager so no suspension of disbelief could set in). I still detest the stuff.
