I think it's just a polite conversation thing. Just say yes. "Ayithu". I 
usually reply honestly and say yes or no.

"Nimma daya" ("your blessings") etc is a bit too much when a doorman or a 
general dogsbody is trying to be polite to you and ask you about the last 
time you stuffed your face.

It appears to be a ritual of politeness for someone to be asked a polite 
question (eg health) and a positive reply is tagged with "Nimma dya" - 
crediting one's good health, luck or success to the blessings of the person 
who asked,  It is not an apporopriate reply to "Coffee ayitha?" ("Have you 
had coffee?)
