oh I used to joke about this complex of the horde of wannabe IT
entrepreneurs (a decade back or so) - primarily from the
basavanagudi, jayanagar kinda middleclass, 'conservative' areas -
blokes with good academics, steady and successful (!) life (Son: 'I
got my dream job on the very first day of campus recruitment itself,
saar' His father: 'my son has gone to 'states' right after his finals,
he did not wait for results' - types) who thought (and many continue
to think) that just because they can code well in c++ or a lisp or c
(all at c), they can make it big in the IT world (the typical and
dreamy route of: telecom startup - lucubration - acquisition - money
off POTS, meaning wireless -OttToBahamas - nudity, I mean Nirvana) -
but instead find that the going is difficult and that there are
gazillion more things that are critical in life and business (such as
a strong and functional backbone and a good amount of spunk in the
scrotum) than the (only) ability to pore over a coredump - and
finally, after their halfhearted (or halfbaked) attempts at 'raising'
vc funds failed (that is at the very FIRST step of THE route itself),
they go running back to their mothers crying mommmmieee and/or better
still, go back to the same employer (who these oedipuses excoriated
earlier as boring, unimaginative and lacking in risk taking abilities
etc etc) once again, however NOT cranking code anymore but becoming
SENIOR managers, as they now think they are good managers since they
are armed with a real life 'experience' of running (away from) a
company.

Quite an anal explanation, eh?

Oedipus.
ps: towards the fag end of such amusements of mine, of my matings with
remarkable men (and a few women too), Udhay and I were colleagues for
a while, having fun at these types and much else - but I dared not
utter the complex phrase because my boss then, was actually from
Basavangudi and I suspected that Udhay also was!
pps: If you go to the Jayanagar BDA complex on friday evenings or
saturday mornings, in the vegetable market section, you may bump in to
these species, beware. You may infectiously startle-up.
