The street price of a legal weapon in India is prohibitively expensive, and the only weapons you can get your hands on are made at the Indian Ordnance factory - which are of very poor quality and have a very high failure rate. Further, IOF handguns have very little stopping power and you are allowed a ration of 25 bullets a year. Yet, there is a wait period of 6-12 months for these bad guns. Ironically, you get a much better and cheaper deal if you buy an illegal weapon that has been smuggled in. In other words, guns in India are not meant for the average citizen seeking protection.
