Seconded. I use a Nikkor 50mm @ f/1.8 and cannot ask for a better lens for
my kind of photography. Very sharp, very clean photos. It sells for about
Rs. 4000-Rs.5000 in Chennai, and if you know the store guy, he can get you
discounts.

Oh yes! On a regular photo outting, I take about 200-300 photos, but end up
posting only 10, if at all.
Most of my photos are very spur-of-the moment (though I do shoot 100% manual
mode) and are merely snapshots of the place I've visited.
