I like how you've conflated 'south Indian vs non-south Indian' with 'Hindu vs Islam'. :) The clutch of left-handed, non-south Indian Hindu batsmen in the current Indian team supports the former theory, but probably not quite the latter. At least among south Indian Hindus, I know there is still plenty of stigma attached to being left-handed. I have a couple of cousins who were forced as children to learn to use their right hands, especially while eating, when their natural urge was to use the left. Venkat Inumella
