Hmm....I found a similar situation when, watching the "Mahabharat" serial, I
was struck by the fact that though sisters play a pivotal role in the story
(Gandhari as a sister is responsible for her brother coming to the kingdom
and playing up her son Duryodhan's insecurities), there didn't seem to be a
mode of address for them...there was "Aryaputra" for husband, "thAthshree"
for grandfather, "mAtAshree", and even "bhrAtAshree"....but nothing for
sisters. So I dug a little into Sanskrit, and only got the word "bhagini"
for sister...and perhaps, "anuja" ("born-along-with")...which describes any
sibling...rAmAnuja would mean, "born-along-with-Rama"..but it usually
signifies Lakshman rather than Bharat or Shatrughna.

In Latin, I got "soror"...(sorority=sisterhood). Jeremy, could you help me
with this? Any other words for sister that I did not get?

Deepa.
