I don't reject a candidate for not being able to solve it. I give hints until they reach the solution. I have however rejected candidates for giving up too easily, or citing what-if scenarios in order to avoid solving it, or not getting anywhere even after I give enough hints. Note that I am looking for an ability to solve such problems in a candidate. Kiran
