Hi again for the second time in a month.

For a story/essay at the magazine I work with (Business Today), we're looking
for examples of people/companies that have (almost) completely stopped using
legacy telecom networks and shifted to VoIP and other modes. This trend has
been happening for some seven-eight years or earlier but what we're looking for
is that ONE individual or company in India who/that has made that (almost)
complete shift. Someone, say, whose monthly telecom services bill is Rs200 a
month but does big voice/data traffic on the Internet. As Ram (Sundaram)
pointed out to me, that might be tough because the guy/company will have to pay
for Internet access. Another example that might work is a mainstream company
(as different from a tech start-up) that has shifted ALL its international and
domestic long distance calling onto VoIP to land big-time savings. Or, examples
close to these scenarios.

The story/essay we're attempting is the mainstreaming of VoIP/data (in India)
and ask provocatively if it is time for Indian telcos to ready for zero or
near-zero voice tariffs. Some of you on this list will know that companies such
as Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar (already getting under 50 paise or 1 cent
for a minute of voice calling) have done tested pilots/business models in a
zero tariff scenario.

Thanks,

J
