Do you really believe that? I don't see it.

I don't consider myself a spiritual person. My only shred of what can be considered faith lies in the vain hope that our shared social and technological problems can be solved through rational thought and discussion in the service of a soundly-reasoned humanistic framework.

What I see in news media and popular sources of opinion (at least the ones targetted to me and people like me) couldn't be farther from that ideal - poorly argued, poorly researched, emotionally manipulative drama designed to stir the heart and sell eyeballs. We could write Roy off as just another nautanki artist and forget about her, but you know - in some small way I am her audience and I have trouble agreeing with her, and that frustrates me.

Modi on-the-other-hand. There is not a word, a gesture, a facial tic, a tiny gust of broken wind that is not part of the strategy to win the next election. It is clear to me and I am arrogant enough to believe that it is clear to other people like me, but I am not who he is talking to. My frustration in this case is reserved for the people who buy into his bullshit.
