I've never really been partial to this line of reasoning. It also has
something to do with underlying technologies right? The combination of
VB and MS Office scripting has a lot to do with why Outlook email
viruses were so initially prevalent on Windows. That goes beyond the
prevalence of MS Office and Windows. It speaks to some underlying
philosophy at work within Windows as well.

Furthermore, I think the argument simply doesn't hold water any more,
given the much more widespread use of OS X now compared to a few years
ago. To say that OS X isn't in "mainstream use" just doesn't make
sense to me.
