I bought a poor man's iphone a couple of weeks ago. I had posted a detailed review of my previous phone a "Moto-Q" on Silk in 2007 and I was beginning to get irritated with that phone and wanted a change. I had been hoping for number portbility so I could change to a povider who would allow me a bigger choice of phones, but no luck there - I am still stuck with Tata Indicom.
I went to the Tata outlet and asked for a "High end phone" - maybe a Blackberry. The guy said he could offer me a Samsung Corby Photon for Rs 7500. (in exchance for my Moto Q which he wanted). This was an added benefit since I already have 3 old Tata CDMA phones being used either as paperweights or background scenery in a fishtank I now notice that this phone is being advertied by Samsung - an ad that I did not even bother looking at. I guess I have moved from what was purported to be a "business phone" to an "entertainment" phone. I get about 30 TV channels and can browse the net based on Tata's Photon card, and it has the other usual features - touch pad, camera, music and up to 8 GB memory in an add on card. I must admit I find owning this phone a more enjoyable experience than my Windows powered Moto Q. shiv
