Archaeology can be ASI managed temples, forts, palaces and what not. Type C,
of the four typesites, I mentioned in my original mail.
Also, there cannot not be archaeology in South India. We just haven't found
it yet. To be precise, we haven't begun excavating it.

Will get in touch with Arun Pai; meanwhile, Deepa Mohan is organising a walk
or two. Looking forward to the photos from that.

These seem to me like hero stones. The first one - the spear - is classic
Hero stone material.
