This is really helpful. Yes, right now she does have a tourist visa
and I think she should consult with the Indian Consulate and see what
happens. I think she was particularly asking if there is some sort of
an 'adoption' or 'surrogacy' visa, which, I am led to believe, some
countries offer. I doubt, however, if India has any such provisions.
I personally haven't heard anything specific about an 'adoption' or
'surrogacy' visa. But, it sounds like she ***should*** be eligible for
the Entry (X) visa because its basically a catch-all visa, which is used
for dependants, i.e. wife and children of foreigner on an employment
visa, or in my case as a dependant of an Indian spouse while waiting for
the PIO card.
