Some would say the same holds true for them when it comes to mathematics.
Yet we poke and prod all of our kids into a minimum of 10 years of maths.
Some of us learn to like it and even get good at it.

I was at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam earlier this week, and it was an
amazing revelation for me that even an inspired genius like Van Gogh
attended painting lessons all through his life and clearly got better over
time. His paintings from his early years are incomparable to his paintings
from near the end of his days where his talent shines a few orders of
magnitude brighter.

If even Van Gogh can be taught to draw, then surely us talentless mortals
can at least learn the basics in school?
