A Water Bottle That Filters as You Drink
By FLORENCE FABRICANT
Published: November 2, 2010

Before that 26.2-mile run or a simpler jog around the park, runners
might want to add this Bobble reusable water bottle to their
equipment. It’s made from recycled plastic and has a built-in charcoal
filter. After an initial rinse, to flush out charcoal particles, the
bottle, which can be squeezed and has a squirting top and snap-in
cover, can be reused, but should be washed regularly. It was created
by the industrial designer Karim Rashid. The manufacturer says that
the plastic complies with federal consumer standards for reuse, and
that it is free of BPA, PVC and phthalates.

A 13-ounce Bobble is about $9; an 18.5-ounce one, about $10; and a
34-ounce one, about $13. Charcoal replacement filters, which come in
six colors, are $6.95. The bottles are sold at Chef Central, Container
Stores and Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Manhattan, among others, and at
waterbobble.com.
