Avicenna has been well researched, there's quite a few books on his
contributions. Take them with a load  of salt though since he's been held up
as an Islamic hero by more than one Islamic nation - Iran, Kazhakistan. Axe
to grind and all that. History is always biased, but at least one can do his
best to stay away from obviously biased accounts.

Incidentally I'd be interested in reading books on the Kushan empire,
suggestions anyone?
