Finally - I have confirmation of what I suspected. The latest Rush
album sounds lousy (I mean the sound engineering, not the music).
Which is funny, because Rush has always been a band that has great
production values in their music.
Here's the answer - and it's yet another way the music cartel is
screwing the fans, the musicians (and ultimately, themselves) by
MAKING THE MUSIC TOO LOUD.
I won't post the text of the article - go to the URL, read teh
entire thing and see the illustrations this guy has put up as proof.

The article above has disappeared from the original website, but can
still be viewed using the wayback machine [1] - but the real reason
for this post is that Rush themselves has come out and admitted that
the sound on this recording sucks [2], and they want to do something about it.

Rush are planning to totally remix their 2002 album Vapor Trails.
Talking exclusively to Classic Rock, guitarist Alex Lifeson revealed:
"We were never happy with the production. Perhaps we should have
taken more time over the record. But now we've got the chance to
improve things. There will be no re-recording, just a remix".
