I didn't know the meaning on monotonically and hysteresis and looked them both 
up.  I think the lag is at the tipping point, isn't it? Might it become what 
somebody (Bernhard I think) talked about-- dowry flipping genders? The future 
of this sad social experiment is going to be interesting?.
