It is more like twitter than facebook in that relationships are
asymmetric. Also, when you do a google search, or are using gmail, or
google docs, or google maps, or any other product of theirs, there is
a bar on top of your screen telling you how many notifications you
have and a small space for you to post a quick update. So, I don't
think it is many big things, but a few small interesting things that
may or may not make much of a difference.
