Was reading an article on the 12th Plan approach paper for India. The same binaries keep playing out - on one side is the whole 'neoliberal agenda' and the other side speaks of commodity fetishism. Someone had pointed out that the document has 45 instances of PPP and 0 mentions of hunger, equality, and human rights. Other words that score higher are market and growth. I think we lack a vocabulary to articulate a different point of view. The moment folks say 'inclusive' there is a sense of hollowness. A token nod rather than anything genuine. Words such as equity are missing. Someone wrote about 'value for money'. Other phrases include 'I owe you' and 'return on investment'. Anything that isn't transactional is pooh poohed as being shoo-sha. The 99 per cent of OWS is a start - instead of calling it the 'other half'.
