There was a documentary I saw on a reality show. I think it was set in
Japan. There are two women on the screen and the viewers could call
and ask those women to do anything - providing what the consumer
wants, so to speak.
Initially the callers asked the women to sing, make funny faces and dance.
Then the callers started asking them to strip.

It isn't an either-or:
Either you provide what the consumer wants or you can't survive.
Either you provide what the consumer wants or you do what's right.


And for a country where a movie like Om Shanti Om gets pilloried by an
actor for spoofing, having strong defamation laws is an oh-so-lovely
step.
