I think the actual word is "sama + bandhi". "sama" means equal (as in "same") Same- bond==Sambandhi
In Kannada the word used for your son's (or daughter's) in-laws is "beegaru". Beegaru (Beega=the father, Beegithi=mother) are to be given the utmost respect and never slighted or insulted in any way. Funny how Kannada and Tamil have so many similarities as well as wild differences. shiv
