My Mum was playing poker and was on a winning streak and was reportedly extremely reluctant to retire gracefully. As the District Surgeon, a family friend, was present, he pulled rank and restored discipline. Sadly, nobody, then or later, noticed my own good looks, or if they did, they didn't mention it as they ought to have. Life isn't, umm, a bed of roses.
