theory' of history--including the top answer. The most radical expression
of this belief was further down the page where one chap says 'kill Vasco da
Gama who opened India to the Western world'. He seems rather secure in the
belief that India would never have been part of European colonisation plans
if Vasco had failed.

We, many Indians, believe that we invented our discovered most things.
Reminds me of the father of the bride in the movie "the big fat Greek
wedding". I would squarely blame it on our education system that does not
allow us to question age old beliefs. Considering how bad we Indians are in
documenting history, difficult to differentiate between history and
mythology.
