I love old movie theaters. (Who doesn't?) The art deco lobbies, the glam-laden ticket windows, the incredibly ornate bathrooms. But I guess most of them are gone. About a year ago I made it to the Elgin Talkies, and found men with sledgehammers in the process of taking it down. (I've been back since, and the new managers gave me a nice walk-through. So disappointing.)
So my question is: are there any old movie theaters left in Bangalore? Is the Rex the oldest one left? Also, does anyone have a way to get me into the old Opera, on Brigade Road??? After hearing stories of the saucy flicks that used to play there, would love to have a tour or a look-around....
