Here is the MeFi thread on 2013 book recommendations:
http://ask.metafilter.com/252797/Awesome-books-from-2013

I looked at my Goodreads log for 2013 and here are books that I had read in
2013 and rated highly. Note that most of these books were published before,
but I only got to them in 2013:

* Wodehouse: A Life by Robert McCrum. A must have for any fan of the master

* Ralph Azham, Volume 1: Why would you lie to someone you love? (Ralph
Azham #1)
by Lewis Trondheim, Kim Thompson (Translator), Brigitte Findakly (Color).
 Beautiful graphic novel

* Lulu in the Sky: A Daughter of Cambodia Finds Love, Healing, and Double
Happiness. Beautifully and honestly written by one of my favorite Cambodian
writers

* Kenya Kenya: A Country in the Making, 1880-1940 a Country in the Making,
1880-1940. Amazing collection of photographs from early Kenyan history. And
pretty decent text to accompany the photos. I wish more history books were
written like this.

Carl: Nuthin'.
Homer: D'oh!
Carl: Unless you're crooked.
Homer: Woo-hoo!
