The explanation is fairly simple. India is probably the only country in the world where the following two conditions hold good 1. It is warm enough to survive all year long without extra fuel 2. There is enough water/rainfall and appropriate weather for two harvests a year. There are references in literature from outside India going back more than 2000 years that speak of a land where there are two harvests a year But more recently overpopulation is because of reduction in child mortality and a rise in life expectancy. "Public Health" in other words. Same thing happened in China - but they dealt with it differently. When you have so many people the idea that everyone must be equally well fed, equally well educated, and equally well paid while gainfully employed is, in my view complete nonsense. All animal populations show disparity and I don't think there is any reason why humans should believe they are any different, or "superior" to locusts or lemmings. shiv
