Personally I am sceptical about these "single wonder molecules" because
the number of single wonder molecules seems to be too high to make sense
in a biochemical environment of extreme complexity about which we don't
know what we don't know. 

Typically one molecule has effects via a number of pathways involving
dozens or hundreds of other molecules that might or might not work in
particular ways depending on the genetic structure, environment and the
presence or absence of receptors in numbers, potentiating or suppressing
effects of other molecules and the pre-existing effects of a thousand
other molecules depending on time, age, sex, diet, disease or
physiological condition.
