George Church, who figures prominently in the above-linked article, is a friend of mine. I haven’t had the chance to speak with him since the big brouhaha about the “let’s build a human from scratch” meeting. He does seem to have a tendency to be a lightning rod. A bit more than a year ago I went to his office and interviewed him for more than an hour.
