Dear Friends,
I'm ... on a 'round-the-world cruise. En route, my wife and I will be making four stops in India, marking our first visit to the country.
Sadly, India has voided all visas and blocked access to all cruise ships. I will thus be unable to visit any of you or your country ... on this trip.
Special thanks and apologies to those who worked to organize meetings. Maybe next time.
It's interesting to observe the world's reaction to the pandemic. Much like visible but ineffective security provisions that provide "security theater", I think that many of the health precautions are similarly "health theater".
Neither do much good, but they give the impression of the government (or ship's management) taking decisive actions without understanding or addressing the actual risks. Such is life in an era where appearances trump reality (pun not intended).
So, as we're rerouted to less nervous countries for the next two months, I can but wave as we traverse the Indian Ocean and bid you all good health.
Cheers, / Bruce /
