Btw, the other place I lucked into was the former Fairlawn Hotel in Kolkata, where Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendall met. The hotel was a bit stuffy but charming and I knew nothing about it prior to my visit. The owner, Violet _____, a 90something Armenian lady prophesied that she wouldn't live to see me again. Her daughter sold the hotel to the Kensington group before I could revisit. Cheers.
