Dear Joy2Del,
A filling in my molar (2nd from the back on my right side) has caused almost
the entire tooth to turn a dark, gray color. At least I think the filling
caused it. The filling was placed, oh about fifteen years ago (?) It has
been this way for much of that time and at least two dentists who've looked
at it in the past two years or so have seemed somewhat surprised, but then
both concluded that it poses no risk to me -- just an aesthetic issue. The
visible portion of the filling itself is about half the height of the tooth
and extends into the crown. It is a bright silver color. What do you think?
I began to experience migraine headaches during my high school years. I am now
31 years old. This would correspond roughly to the length of time that I have
had
the fillings. Do you know of a connection between fillings and migraines. Are
there dentists who specialize in metal removal and do you know of any in the
Dallas,
TX area? I am on a corporate health & dental plan... I wonder if they would
cover
this. Can you point me to any good documentation? Also, what (if anything) do
you replace the metal fillings with?
Regarding root canals -- my mother had one last year and the tooth became
infected.
The dentist put her on one antibiotic that did not work, then another. He would
soak some sort of wadding in the stuff and then place it in there. I have been
using a pharmaceutical grade Mild Silver Protein ("better than CS") for several
years to end my bouts with strep throat, and I recommended it to my mother. The
dentist agreed to put it down in the root area of the infected tooth and WITHIN
ONE DAY, my mother noticed significant improvement. Is your "root canals are
bad
for you" comment based upon the release of bacteria/viruses when the nerve
material
is ground up, by chance? Thank you for your thought-provoking post.
