I took the time to visit the link for Bruce Marx's commercial site on your webpage. Rather pricey, a $699.00 unit, and a $799.00 unit (and the upgrade package, of course), but they do produce excellent colloidal silver, I am sure. There are a few things I am questioning in my mind about some of the statements of Mr.Marx in the process of advertising his product. There is one below in particular that struck me, just in passing. I may go back and look for details later. :) ____________________________________________________________________________ ___ SHELF LIFE 'Pure' colloidal silver produced with any DC process has a limited shelf life of 2 - 4 weeks, depending on storage conditions. After this time the particles will become so heavy with 'tarnish' that they bond together, loose their electrical charge and settle to the bottom of the container. The solution will actually return to a clear, colorless state and you will see the black residue in the bottom of the bottle. ____________________________________________________________________________ ___ This is an inaccurate generalization. I have personally had CS made with the DC method, that apparently is "obsolete" from the standpoint of Mr.Marx, that has NOT RETURNED TO A CLEAR, COLORLESS STATE, LEAVING ONLY A BLACK RESIDUE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOTTLE......even well past a year in some cases (without significant loss of color through precipitation) . I have some on the shelf right now that has been there for over six months and is still bright yellow-gold and has only an almost imperceptable amount of fine gray particles in the bottom of the gallon glass container. I do a lot of filering in my proceedure, as some may recall. There is also the matter of referring to this "process of deterioration" as involving a progressive "tarnish" accumulation that weights down the particles, causes them to loose their charge, and fall impotently to the bottom of the "bottle". By the way tarnish is NOT silveroxide, it is silversulfate. The Yellow-Gold color is NOT due to "tarnish" forming in the solution as Mr.Marx also mentions in yet another place in his advertisement! (SILVEROXIDE IS NOT TARNISH!!) This obvious misrepresentation is being used to form an impression in the minds of those who are seeking an effective way to manufacture colloidal silver, that they may be moved to purchase his very expensive machinery for his profit. Who would want to be drinking "tarnish" afterall, why just those folks who enjoy the thought of turning gray, I suspect. :) This is just more commercialism, unfortunately at the expense of the truth. There is also a mention of using the method of "muscle response testing" (MRT), or commonly called "applied kinesiology"....lets look at Mr.Marx's web page once again. ____________________________________________________________________________ ___ ALTERNATIVE TESTING Along with the conventional and scientific tests we normally conduct in the laboratory for PPM and Particle Size, we have conducted additional tests using 'Kinesiology'. Utilizing a locally well known and respected Kinesiologist (a PhD), we tested several 'blind' samples of DC colloidal silver, distilled water, a store bought colloidal silver and one made using our ULTRA High Voltage process. Samples were in identical dark amber glass bottles. The only identification was a 'code' inside the cap of the bottle, which she was not permitted to see. In every case she was able to differentiate between the samples. 'No reaction' to the distilled water, a 'very slight affinity' to the store bought solution, a 'definite affinity' for the DC colloidal silver and a 'VERY STRONG affinity' to that produced with the ULTRA High Voltage process. We realize that many know little or nothing about this phenomenon, many do not believe in it while many others have a very healthy respect for it. We also realize that the results of these tests have no basis in scientific fact. We present the results of these tests only to demonstrate the lengths we go to in our testing process. ______________________________________________________________________________ For those who are not familiar with this "test without any basis in scientific fact" (which Mr.Marx admits and chooses to site, nevertheless), let me discribe it for you. MRT or muscle response testing (applied kinesiology) is a proceedure that tests the muscle strength of an individual in relation to an influence upon that individual by another substance. For instance, a particular vitamin is often held in one hand, while the individual is told to hold the opposite arm horizontal and resist the downward pressure of the "tester". The "tester" then notes (subjectively) whether the muscle (kinesthetic) response was stronger under the influence of the substance or diminished in strength. I have seen Chiropractors add a tablet at a time until the "correct" dosage was "determined" for that patient. This is the type of test that Mr.Marx is promoting in support of his expensive machine. Though, to be fair, there are impressive, and sound, test results mentioned as well. My emphasis is not to deny the validity of the method, but to show the commercial bias toward expensive utilities to produce such a solution (when they are not necessary). I noted something interesting about the solution generating on top of the counter in my kitchen. It is clear, colorless, has an obvious colloidal aftertaste, and the Farraday-Tyndal effect is very well defined. All this from the cost of two $6 one ounce .999 pure silver ingots, a lamp cord and two aligator clips. It is just a matter of establishing the amount of time to generate the solution with other things constant, to determine the ppm concentration. The particles are obviously the smallest and the colloid the best quality, afterall, it is so like that of Mr.Marx, it has to be. :) No kidding, I think Bruce is on to something here, and there is no reason why we cannot be "on to it" too, for a lot less than $700. Most of us are accustomed to far more complicated proceedures by now , than using this simple method. If someone needs to make this colloid for commercial purposes, then this unit Bruce Marx has designed would pay for itself in a very short time and likely prove to be an extremely good investment. Even though he doesn't know the difference between silveroxide and "tarnish"! :) For those of us with money to burn, it would be a nice conversation piece, as well. OH...there was one last thing I fogot to mention (from Bruce's webpage) that some may be interested in. ____________________________________________________________________________ ___ CS PRO Systems operate at voltages capable of inflicting SERIOUS SHOCK RESULTING IN BURNS, INJURY OR DEATH. CS PRO Systems are totally safe to use when operated in strict compliance with the instructions provided with each system. The unit must be completely setup, prepared and leads connected BEFORE plugging into the receptacle! NEVER touch any part of the unit, including leads, batch tank and electrode holder while unit is plugged in and power is ON! When the process is complete, turn the unit OFF and UNPLUG from receptacle before attempting to touch the electrodes, the batch tank or the leads! NEVER trust the 'Power Light' as an indication of power being OFF! Should this light 'burn out', power could still be available in the unit! ALWAYS UNPLUG the unit, to insure that power has been completely removed, before touching any part of the system! ____________________________________________________________________________ ___ Now, that is something to think about.
