Hi Reid
Thank you for the response. The silver I will/would be using will be from
999% ingots purchased from a coin shop. The question was whether there
would be any impurities transferred to the silver from the metal ladle or
the plaster of paris mold. Another thought I had for a mold would be to
clamp two blocks of steel face to face and drilling from the edge straight
down where the two pieces come together. This would give me two halves and
a much longer lasting mold. I am in the process of building a new shop so
it will not be until it is completed and my tools moved in that I will be
able to do this. I will let you all know how this turns out when I have
molded wires in hand.
I would also like to thank all of the other list members who have responded
to this thread.
It appears that the Silver will have to be melted by using an acetylene
torch and being careful not to melt the steel or iron ladle. After all, if
the Lone Ranger could mold siver bullets, then we ought to be able to mold
the silver wire. %^D
Cheers and thanks again,
Harvey
