Just a reminder, everyone, especially to new folks or those who
haven't dealt with a Smartlist mailing list before...

Many of the mailing lists you might have dealt with are run by a
program called Majordomo, which looks in the *body* of your message
for instructions. Not so silver-list or silver-digest. The
silver-list and silver-digest are run on a program called Smartlist,
which uses a different protocol.

*** To send a control message to the silver-list, you MUST use the
list control address, which in the case of the silver list is:

    [email protected]

*** Put your command in the *SUBJECT* of the message. Use the word
subscribe or unsubscribe as your message subject.

The control address for the silver-digest is:

    [email protected]

Sending a subscribe or unsubscribe message to [email protected]
will, in most cases, just bounce the message to me at my list-owner
account at eskimo, requiring manual processing. That's not a big
burden, but it may take a day or two for me to even see your message.

There is a feature that lets the Smartlist program automatically
process sub/unsub requests that are sent to the list, but I've got it
disabled since people kept unsubscribing themselves by accident. It
seems that the program accepts a fairly large number of words as
instructions and folks were unsubscribing by using the word "describe"
in their message headers, for example.

*** So the upshot is, if you want to get on or off the list or change
from list to digest or back again, please send your commands to:

    [email protected] --- or ---
    [email protected]

These instructions are attached at the bottom of each message as the
ubiquitous footer file, which it is obviously too easy to stop seeing
entirely! <GRIN> (See below...)

Be well, all, and thanks for your continued cooperation...

Mike D.
silver-list owner
