Welcome aboard, Jeff. As soon as the group decides to spend some of those pledges you'll have your chance to contribute. Thank you! > My wife has been ill for two years and I believe that she may have > Lyme disease. After seeing a number of doctors, we finally have an > appointment to see a LLD. You might make a point to watch Oprah Winfrey on Wednesday, she's doing a show on Lyme disease, according to the promo I caught. In addition, I hope you'll tap some of our recovering Lyme patients to answer your questions. A couple of the regulars are in transit, but others are lurking about, I think. <grin> It's a tricky condition to get diagnosed and treated properly. It looks like CS can help, from what we've seen here, but you'll have to prove that for yourselves. > I would characterize myself as a conservative person with respect > to alternative medicine but want to keep an open mind. Then the first thing to do is satisfy yourself it will do no harm. Once you've dealt with any concerns about toxicity or whatever, then you'll feel more free to give it a try. > ... there appears to be many sources for CS, commercial and > home-made, which probably vary considerably in their chemical > composition. That's correct. Some of the commercial preps have been found to be useless or inconsistant. And folks have found it difficult to follow instructions properly for home-brew, leading to mistakes and unpredictable results. > And it seems to me that there is a wide range of dosing practices > by those who are self-medicating with CS. We can point you to some reasonable dosing protocols that one of the vendors provides for their product. You must adjust your dosage for both body weight *and* the concentration of the preparation you're using. Don't do both of those and you could end up taking much less than you need. > ... It's perfectly reasonable for you to think this way, and I don't disagree with the sentiment that is behind your comment. I ask our members not to reject the help of any mainstream professional that happens to wander into our midst, and I always try to get *them* to meet the rest of us half way. The fact is we do have folks on the list with science, engineering, and medical backgrounds to varying degrees. My hope is that we can simply start to do the best quality science we can, and in so doing, inspire interest on the part of others. But you'll have to admit that mainstream researchers will have an awful lot of disincentives to overcome. They'd have to find funding, overcome peer prejudice, and, some would suggest, even threats and retaliation from the all-powerful *they* that pull the strings in the healthcare field. Our best bet is to proceed on our own and try to keep the door open for others to join in. I suspect it will be a long while before the "authorities" support colloidal silver research. In fact, I believe it will only happen in response to demand from a great many citizens, which we can best create by going ahead. > Again I hope I have not offended anyone with my comments. I don't think you will, Jeff. And I hope you don't give up until you learn what there is to know about CS and Lyme from the people on the list. Don't hesitate to ask. We only want one thing for you, your wife to get better.
