What follows is a message sent this morning to a person who just unsubscribed from the list and left a couple of messages in my box on eskimo explaining why.
Here's my answer, FYI. Mike D. ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- When you unsubscribed, I suspect you recieved and answered a couple of automatic responses the system sends out. This will be a live response from a real person... You wrote: > Because I feel certain issues have not been satisfactorily > settled, I don't feel ready to introduce CS to my daughter with > lupus. Lupus, if truly an autoimmune disease, does not suggest any *obvious* benefit to using CS, other than to help against opportunistic infections. There probably aren't any people on the list who've had much experience one way or the other with it, unfortunately for you and others who have asked recently. I've just searched my archive of silver list postings which goes back to when I first subscribed about a year ago. Lupus is mentioned as a frequent mis-diagnosis in Lyme sufferers, and generically included in the list of over "650 diseases and organisms" CS is supposed to be good against. So at least some people claim it works, but there are no good scientific studies I'm aware of. One person posted a 1935 vintage article from a doctor who used colloidal gold to treat a patient that had "Lupus vulgaris" of the face, among a *bunch* of other serious things, and stated that her condition, including the lupus, was much improved after treatment. I'll forward that to you if you like. There is also a lot of speculation recently floating around at the edges of the mainstream research establishment about MS and other autoimmune diseases being caused by generally undetected forms of known bacteria and thus responsive to certain antibiotics. This opens the door to CS possibly being helpful. As for heavy metal poisoning, the only evidence I've seen for that with silver is from the use of large quantities of insoluble salts and occupational exposure to particulate silver. If your daughter can verify for herself how much silver must be ingested and in what form to cause argyria, and compare that with the amounts to be found in home-made CS, she'll probably discover that they are not in the same ball park at all. And that doesn't even address the question of retention and excretion. This has been a frequent topic of discussion on the list. I've satisfied myself that I'm not going to turn blue from the stuff. You need to decide that for yourselves, however. And you wrote: > Since I find it difficult to get any real solid information, have > never had an answer to my request about lupus, and don't have the > time to wade through all these discussions I don't understand, I > believe for the time being I would like to unsubscribe. Perhaps > when there is more information about retention of silver (heavy > metal poisoning?), dosage, etc., I will get back on. The problem is that there *is* very little solid information of the kind we're used to. The only really solid information I have to go on is the testimonials of the people who have become much healthier as a result of using CS, and who are not also trying to sell me anything. It is this which makes me want to try to bring some order out of the chaos of claims and disinformation that surrounds CS. I can only suggest you determine as best you can whether CS can *hurt* you. If you decide that is indeed unlikely, then you may choose to try it. You and your daughter are the archtype of the kind of person I want the silver-list to be able to help. Check back from time to time. As I get the web-site built and we gain more understanding, there will be more and easier answers available. In the meantime, I'm sorry we weren't of more assistance. I encourage you to continue your research, and I wish you and your daughter well.
